THE STORY

Without warning, the entire island of Manhattan is covered by a clear, impermeable bubble, scooped up by a fleet of spacecraft and flown into the cargo bay of the mother of all motherships.

But for what purpose?  Are they friendly?  Will they attack?

Are we part of an alien scientific experiment or some kind

of cosmic zoo exhibit?

Or... are we just tonight's dinner?

ABOUT THE SERIES

Inspired by John E. Stith's acclaimed novel, hailed with a prestigious Hugo Award Honorable Mention, "Manhattan Transfer" unveils a thrilling odyssey of survival, exploration, and the indomitable spirit of humanity in the face of the unknown.

MEET THE CAST

Director

Shaun Paul Piccinino (Peach-a-nino), an acclaimed film and television director, boasts an impressive portfolio with six Netflix features to his name. Among these, three have achieved global recognition: "A California Christmas" and its sequel, "City Lights," both topped Netflix's global charts, while "That's Amor" secured a spot in the top three worldwide, contributing to over 250 million hours viewed. Shaun's success continued with "Holiday Harmony" on HBOMax, capturing a top ten position globally, and "The Island," which clinched the number one spot on Starz, marking his fifth chart-topping movie.

With a career spanning six years, Piccinino has directed 10 feature films and two television series, showcasing his versatility across various genres and platforms, including HBO, Netflix, Warner Brothers, and Lionsgate. His expertise isn't just limited to directing; Shaun is also renowned for his skill in action sequences, stunts, and visual effects. His early career highlights include significant roles in "Deadliest Warrior," contributions to the "Call of Duty" franchise, and work on "Robot Chicken" and Star Wars specials.

Composer

Whether it be writing evocative orchestral music, recording world instruments on location in exotic places or programming cutting-edge modern synths, multi-award-winning composer Jamie Christopherson has built a reputation for consistently delivering unique, fresh, and unexpected scores. Jamie has scored additional music for many TV hit shows, most notably for Showtime Channel’s "Homeland", "Ray Donovan" and "The Affair", and the J.J. Abrams produced NBC hit "Revolution". Jamie has also scored many feature films such as A "California Christmas" (#1 on Netflix), "Ride", "American Wrestler: The Wizard", and composed scores to best-selling video games such as "Fortnite", "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance" and "The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth" series.

When I first picked up John Stith's novel "Manhattan Transfer," I immediately fell in love with it!  It is science fiction at its best - the perfect "what if?" scenario full of a sense of wonder like few other novels I read.

I immediately thought this would make an excellent science fiction series.  However, at the time, broadcast and cable shows were off limits to "outsider" independent producers like me.  So, I put it on a back burner, but I still revisited the possibilities of creating this series from time to time.

Fast forward to today, where there are countless cable channels and streaming services.  And the one thing they all have in common - they need programming!

So, now is the perfect time to bring "Manhattan Transfer" to life!  There are so many stories to tell with a premise like this: how vastly disparate people can come to work together, utilizing science and creativity to solve what will be a nearly impossible scenario.  Can people put aside their differences for a common goal? Can they put aside their own needs for the needs of the many?  And can they function as a society when their society collapses?

These are just some of the captivating questions that we will be exploring in this series.
